Is it possible to customize what is shown on the 1197 display? For example, could a map, SI, DI and sonar be displayed simultaneously for 4 corner viewing?

You can't specify these views or mix and match to your preferences.
You have to go with whatever can be selected from the menu

I haven't heard of any 4-way views yet, but there are some built in 3 way views.
I don' t know where you could get a list of all that is available.
Usually, more views are available with newer software upgrades.
